We Won T Pay Play Analysis
For my second response, I attended USF’s College of Arts production of They Don’t Pay?, We Won’t Pay! on April 9th, 2017. The story is by Dario Fo and directed by Dan Granke. This production was conducted through dialogue, staging and sound to fulfill the event of The Recession. The characters contributed to the period due to their rioting because of the increase in grocery prices. I used my senses and my own analysis to contribute to the purpose of the play. Throughout the production, I noticed visual observations that emphasized the production. Margherita refused to pay for her groceries because of the increase in prices. Thus, she pretended to be pregnant through hiding food under her clothes. I saw some olives and juice fall onto the floor from her body. This shows the realistic aspect of how the character hides the food. The characters also had to hide the groceries underneath their bed so that the police couldn’t find them. I noticed that the staging was conducted through the police officer facing the audience while the characters were lifting the bed. Thus, the police didn’t see the food. The police can then still investigate other homes for stolen groceries and control the riots. As a result, because of my visual observations, the production centered around the boycotting …show more content…
In the production, a whistle was being overheard within the setting. The police officers utilized their whistles to show their own authority. This is important because the police needed to investigate the crime scene of the characters stealing groceries. Also, while the character Margherita was pretending to be pregnant, the ambulance noise was used. This noise contributed to the realistic aspect of the personal wanting to help her into the ambulance. Whenever a conversation of her fake pregnancy was occurring, the sound of a baby cry was used. This contributed to the humor of the story and easing the tensions of the “baby

When the narrator introduced the brothels in Cambodia and how the police and the advocates saved the victims, the music was heavy and sorrowful, leading to the pounding of the heart of the audience and it increases the tension because the music brings out the uncertainty of hope of the girls. In the article titled “College players deserve pay for play,” Rod Gilmore makes his case clear; it’s time for a change in college football. Since college sports originated, the athletes have been considered amateurs that receive benefits through scholarships. Recently, college football has become a multi billion dollar industry, and controversy about whether or not players should get paid has risen from it. Through factually supported claims, clever attacks at the system in place, and intelligent and reasonable requests, Gilmore presents a convincing argument to persuade readers to support college football players being paid.…

The play that my group and I read and presented was Behind Closed Doors, a play with the concept of, Tragedy in your past can affect your present if you do not let go and move on. The role I played was the director, which is a role in the theater, that’s very much so unappreciated. The purpose of the presentation project was to actually understand, hands on, what it takes to produce a Theatre play, and what the jobs and elements are to do so. In theatre, communication is key.
