The Roman soldiers were trained to become strong heroes for Rome. The soldiers were strong fighting men that were trying to protect their country. The Roman army had a useful type of weapon, the spear. They also had a spear shooter that was like a crossbow but bigger and heavier. It was called a Ballista. Roman soldiers did not have much armor for the whole body, they had more on their chest. Roman soldiers would take cover when shots were fired. Once the initial arrows flew they were free to go in for the kill. Daggers and any type of strong cutting blades helped back them.
