Top of Form “Languageless’ Thinking” Please respond to the following:

Consider the quote by Wittgenstein, “The limits of my language are the limits of my life.”
Explain whether it is possible to think without using language. If you believe it is possible, describe how a person might enact “languageless” thinking. If you believe it is not possible, describe what you foresee as the problems with languageless thinking.

I do believe it is possible to think without using language because we use feelings and emotions. This is possible because when you use words sometimes we tend to say what we don’t mean. You can say one thing and mean something totally different. So I think it is possible to say things without using language.

“Generating Writing” Please respond to the following:

Choose a topic about which you have a strong opinion. Select a method of finding and using your feelings – 1) inspiration method; 2) recollection method; 3) conscious selection method. Write quickly about your topic for five (5) minutes. This is for your eyes only; no one else will read it. After finishing the writing activity, respond to the following questions:

Were you surprised by the quantity of the words and a certain raw eloquence? Explain.
Did your strong feelings help you generate any worthwhile thoughts? Explain.
Can you keep the words in this form or do you need to refine and revise them for public communication? Explain.
What have you learned about your own thinking and writing from this experience?
Is there anything you could do to improve the way you start your writing assignments? If so, what? If not, what is working well for you?
No I wasn’t surprised by the number of words or eloquence because I was writing from the heart. Yes my strong feelings helped generate worthwhile thoughts because when you write from the heart your feelings will always come to the forefront. I can keep the words in this form and I wouldn’t have to

A company's debts or obligations are owed within one year. Current liabilities appear on the company's balance sheet and include short-term debt, accounts payable, accrued liabilities and other debts. Current liabilities are separated from long-term liabilities on classified balance sheets. (You do not have to prepare a classified balance sheet, but it is the norm. Classified balance sheets also separate the current assets from the long-term assets). Knowing which liabilities will have to be paid within one year is important to lenders, financial analysts, owners, and executives of the company. (Current assets include cash and other assets that will turn to cash within one year.) Knowing the liabilities that are due within one year and the amount of assets turning to cash within one year are so important that it makes sense to prepare a classified balance sheet. The amount of current liabilities is used in two of the most common financial ratios. Working capital is the amount of current assets minus the amount of current liabilities. The current ratio is calculated by dividing the amount of current assets by the amount of current liabilities.…

For myself, I believe that I create a melody where there is none. In a situation as simple as a conversation, the melody is the driving force or “reason” for a composition. This reason can simply be suggested as the plot or point of the conversation. In music, even with complex and atonic compositions such as Stravinsky, it is clearly possible to listen for the repetition of a phrase or tonal quality that may help one forward through the piece of music. The crescendo and decrescendo of the music, the contrapuntal nature of complex compositions, even the division of an orchestra into sectional pieces of a song are all methodology in which to create the climax, a climax found to be stronger under the influence of a melody that does not exist until discovered. Beauty is in the “ears” of the beholder.…

What type of compensation component would you like to have through your employer that is not currently offered? Explain your rationale. Is your request consistent with your employer’s organizational goals? A compensation component is not a benefit, but may refer to how compensation is calculated, as in the case of those paid on commission. I believe you are asking for a new benefit. Like 401K, profit sharing, or health benefits. Commuting reimbursement or funding. This is not the same as travel or vehicle reimbursement/funding, as when performing job functions while working. Commuting reimbursement covers the employees cost of travel to and from work locations on a regular basis, outside of those times the employee is working. Simply, you get paid to drive to and from the office.…

The human language may empower all of it’s users. The Famous Austrian-born philosopher, Ludwig Wittgenstein, once said ‘The limits of my language mean the limits of my world’. A variant translation to this is ‘The limits of my language are the limits of my mind. All I know is what I have words for’. This statement follows the notion of linguistic determinism which is, in its strongest form, the idea that language and its structures limit and determine human knowledge and thought. However, we must emphasise that the absence of a concept in a language does not oblige us to never understand such a concept.…

Our dependence on language distorts what our senses are truly getting. In a simple context of analyzing an art piece, for instance in the process of analyzing the nuance of the work, our interpretations of what we see tend to be bounded with the language that we know. Without the use of language, in this context, the art piece will remain abstract in our mind. The emotions that we get from viewing the art piece, for example, can be described with adjectives. In a wider sense, language influences the way we think.…

Can the human mind picture a certain motion or objective without having to use or remember the language it learned from? In Joshua Hartshome’s article, “Does Language Shape What We Think?”, it expresses a skeptical question about how important a language can dominate the way people imagine certain ideas.…

    My greatest strength

My greatest strength as a writer is the ability to choose my words carefully. Ever since I was young, my father has filled my head with what seemed like bizarre words I’ll never use. As the years go by, I find myself using these strange words more often, and eventually they become part of my everyday vocabulary. This combined with my ever-growing mental word bank supplied by the books I’ve read has allowed for a wide selection of words to use in my writing. I wouldn’t go as far as to say I’m silver-tongued; my ability to string these words together is nothing extraordinary. However, the general knowledge of various words and their uses has aided my writing greatly.…
