Week 6 Reflective Essay
In week six my main was to pick up where I left off in week four in teaching in the classroom. I obtained the necessary Power Points (PPT) to teach and started the modification process of the slides to update them a bit. The weekend was to be my first RN level clinical rotation and the area in which it was in is mental health. The NLNCC and BMS that fits with this week’s clinical is number two, five, seven, and eight. These core competences are what the best fit for the week’s adventure. On Monday it was a basic orientation day with handing out the syllabus and also a small amount of teaching in which I felt was best for my preceptor to do since she will be their long-term instructor. This also gave me some time to review and update my …show more content…
NLNCC two provides student’s with the commitment to lifelong learning and to engage the student through counseling, self-reflection and goal setting. This falls under BMS of teaching and application. Also, this hit home with assisting with teaching classroom didactic for this week. The NLNCC five, incorporates the theory of lifelong learning and the need to integrate organizational effectiveness and cultural sensitivity. With this area of BMS it is an integral piece of the educational process and brings present change to the learning process. BMS and the NLNCC will hit both application and teaching. The support of both the students and fellow staff members to set forth BMS proven strategies to introduce change in nursing education. The NLNCC seven, incorporate all of the four steps BMS. The four steps deal with “discovery” and the implementation of scholarly activities. BMS also uses the integration and application of evidence based teaching and development of policies and procedures. Lastly, this is all tied together with the teaching portion of BMS so that it can be integrated in the classroom. During this week, BMS and the NLNCC seven was met by the integration of making new PPT’s and setting forth of a new term with new goals. The NLNCC eight, aligns between the work place and the educator’s personal values and the setting of personal goals and being able to meet them. The NLNCC eight deals with the three of the four of BMS, which are teaching, integration, and application. BMS integration best fit with the NLNCC eight and is best applied when teaching is done with the respect of collegiate professionalism. Caring and building a classroom environment that really embraces the development of the teacher student relationship is what BMS is all

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

Moreover, patient care must be Evidence base practice to ensure positive patients outcomes. Banner’s theory of professional growth introduce the concept that the expert nurses develop skills and understanding of patient care over time through education and experience (Journal of Nursing, 1982, p. 30).
