Welcome to Brazil! Home of soccer... When thinking of Brazil, some think of the beaches, some think of the food, some think of the Christ the Redeemer statue, and some think of other things. But when I think of Brazil, I think of soccer! In Brazil, soccer is like a religion. At every corner of every street, you'll see people, all ages, playing soccer. At the beach, you'll see people playing soccer. In Brazil, soccer is every where. Brazil and its national team have changed the sport as we know it. And it all started when a teenager named Pele set foot on the pitch. Now, at 74, he is arguably the greatest soccer player ever. Many years later, Ronaldinho came along. Ronaldinho added skill and style, he added a new definition to the word, panna,
also known as a meg, and now, at 35, he still is. Today, we see the promising youth of Brazil's soccer shown in players like Philippe Coutinho, Oscar, Lucas Moura, and of course, FC Barcelona star, Neymar Jr. Neymar is a player like no other, bringing the style of Ronaldinho to the pitch, but adding some of his own to it. Well known for his pace, Neymar may be young, but he is already becoming one of the greatest footballers on Earth. Brazil's national team is not only stacked on the attacking side of the pitch, but their defense is very strong as well. The central back-side is made up of powerful players like Naldo, Miranda, and of course the world famous duo of David Luiz and Thiago Silva. Not only do they have world class center backs, they have amazing fullbacks, as well. Players like Danilo, Alex Sandro, Dani Alves, and Marcelo provide defense while giving the team pace at the same time. Thanks to their great passion and skill for the game, Brazil is currently the #7 men's national team in the World, and it is very deserving. Sadly, in 2014, for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Brazil was defeated 7-1 by Germany. They're striving to come back and win the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
