Conclusion
Cal-Fresh reform is greatly needed to assist families and individuals getting access for needed food assistance.
Why can’t there be an overall blanket to keep this program continually on going instead of the program being revised every year? It seems that every year the Cal-Fresh program’s funding is being cut. In the year 2013, five billion dollars was automatically cut. Many families in need were affected. The budget should not be cut because food assistance is constantly needed. Every year with the continuous number of people that will retire and need food assistance. Many Americans disagree and do not want to pay for government assistance programs through taxes, but I believe that it benefits the economy and helps the underprivileged citizens actually have a chance to survive and make ends meet. In addition, it is unfair for retired citizens not to receive the full benefits of Cal-Fresh or any assistance program when they have previously paid taxes into these welfare programs when they were under employment. Cal-Fresh should be available to everyone in need because the taxpayers are putting money into it every year. The program just needs to be more accessible for families and citizens in
need.
