Were The Sixties Better Than What We Have In This World Today?

Were the sixties better than what we have in this world today? In the sixties many great things happened such as rock and roll music that promoted love and peace, the civil rights movement, and the first man in space. Although some people may say that modern day is better because people are more accepting of different ethnicities and cultures. But, in the sixties people changed the way they thought of other people. The 1960’s were a better time and place for multiple reasons. One reason why the sixties were better than now is the music then promoted peace and love. In the article “Was society better in the 1960’s when peace and love were promoted.” It states “Music was the definition of the 1960’s with icons like “The Beatles” and “The Beach Boys”, which innovated rock music, and promoted peace and love”(Winn). This shows that music in the sixties promoted peace and love as opposed to today’s music which promotes hate and discrimination.
Another reason the sixties were better than modern day is, the sixties brought many changes to society an example of this is the civil rights movement. In the article it states “Another huge movement going on was the civil rights movement led by Martin Luther King JR.,
In the sixties saggy pants and hoodies would be considered vulgare. In the article it states “Clothing brought forth a new look with bright colored clothing, jackets, polyester pant-suits, and turtlenecks contributing to the scene. At least least fashions then encouraged teens to dress well, while saggy jeans and hoodie style would be shunned in the 60s society” (Winn). This illustrates that back in the 60’s teens were encouraged to dress well because other people would see showing skin as a bad thing unlike today where it’s normal to skin or shoulder or something of that
