What´s Hypnotherapy?
What is hypnotherapy? Hypnotherapy or hypnosis is a trance that uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness. (www.webmd.com). During this trance the client’s attention is so focused that anything going on around them is blocked out or ignored for a temporary time. With the help of a therapist, the client’s focus their attention on a specific thought or task. Client’s that undergo hypnotherapy can explore painful thoughts, feelings, and memories that they might have hidden from their conscious minds. (www.webmd.com).

Hypnosis can improve immune function, increase relaxation, decrease stress, and ease pain and feelings of anxiety. It may also improve recovery time and reduce anxiety and pain following a surgery. It may reduce the need for medication, improve mental and physical health before an operation, and reduce the time it takes to recover. Hypnotherapy can help teach you self regulation skills; for example, how to turn down pain. It can also be used to help manage chronic illness and it can enhance a sense of control. Hypnotherapy can improve the success of other treatments for many conditions, such as; phobias, fears, anxiety, sleep disorders, depression, stress, post-trauma anxiety, grief, loss, and more. It can also be used to help with pain control and to overcome habits. It can also be helpful for people whose symptoms are severe or who need crisis management. (www.webmd.com). There are many other problems or conditions that may respond to hypnotherapy and those are; irritable bowel syndrome, tension headaches, alopecia areata, asthma, addictions, bedwetting, fibromyalgia, labor and delivery, skin disorders, stress, tinnitus, cancer-related pain, weight loss, eating disorders, warts, indigestions, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
