The major technique that is used in this film is camera angles. Throughout the film there are various camera angles, the main shots that Weir uses are angled, tilted shots to show that there are hidden cameras filming Truman. When Truman is driving in his car the camera is tilted and placed at a particular angle, this is showing that the camera is hidden in the car radio. Weir uses different music to set moods. When Truman and Marlon are sitting on the bridge and Marlon is talking to Truman saying “…and the last thing that I will ever do… is lie to you” the background music is used to make the scene emotional for the audience. The background music that is used in this scene creates a feeling of sadness and is touching, creating a dramatic scene. Sounds are also used throughout The Truman Show. The two types of sound effects included are Diegetic and Non- Diegetic sounds. Diegetic sounds are sounds that you can hear on screen. Diegetic noises include the voices of characters on screen, sounds of cars and crashing noises. An example in the film is when the lamp falls from the sky, it makes a crashing and shattering noise. If diegetic sounds were not included in this film, the film would be difficult to interpret and it would not have the sounds of when something on screen makes a noise. The non-diegetic sounds used in the movie include things like music, which adds drama to moments that would be silent without it. Overall, Non-diegetic and diegetic are both equally important in the
