Personally, I have always lived in the city of Chicago and grocery stores were always easily accessible for my family and I. I know the benefit of this because we would always have nutritious foods, which included fruits and vegetables because the grocery store was within walking distance. I find it really said that people have to live this way, especially when they want to be healthier. I am embarrassed to be from Chicago because I know that another reason why there are food deserts is because of racism. I am curious as to what can be done to fix this problem. I know that we can begin as dietitians, to educate people on what they need. After this we could open up small markets that give communities an opportunity to change. I believe that small changes like this could really change the number of food desert prevalence seen in Chicago
