Climate/Geography
To start off with, the south climate was warm and sunny. The South also have humid summers mild winters and heavy rainfall. While the South was good for farming, and agriculture the North has warm, and humid summers, and snowy winters. The North's land is difficult for farming they had a short growing season. The North was rocky and hilly, so the Noth was great for factories, and used waterpower to run
those factories.
Economy
Furthermore, the South made its money on agriculture they had slaves for the farms, and plantations. Unlike the North the South wanted cheap imports, the north wanted high tariffs. The North made its money from factories that manufactured near water, so it can use waterpower.
Culture
Not to mention, that the south culture had small wealthy classes, and the wealthy owned plantations. The south had little or no education, and churches. Children of plantation owners had an education. Majority of the North was religious. Their education and religion were organized compared to the North, and most towns had schools, and churches.
Transportation
Additionally, the South wasn't as developed as the North the South mainly used steamboats, and some railroads. The south relied on the steam ship more. Since the north had more rivers and used canals and water transportation that helped with industry purposes. The north also had 30,000 miles of railroads, and over 88,000 miles of roads.
In conclusion, the north was more advanced in industry, and the south was more advanced in agriculture because of their land, and how they decided to live their life.
