The British and colonist had many problems, like the Boston Massacre, the battle of Lexington and Concord and lets not forget the British acts, the Intolerable acts, the Quartering act, the Townshend act, and the stamp act.The Boston Massacre was when a British regiment shot and killed five young men on March 5th 1770. So in 1765, Prime Minister George Grenvell thought out a new law to pay off the war debt. Colonist were vary mad about this new law that made them have to pay extra money for stamps that let you buy things like paper, newspapers, playing cards, wills, and licenses, and that’s why they called it the Stamp act. After the Stamp act effect wore off the British made a new law called the Quartering act. The Quartering act was a law that made the colonist mad because they had to house British solders with food, furniture, and bedding and that costed a lot for the colonist and they did not like having another mouth to feed. Then there was the Townshend act named after Charles Townshend who had the idea of making the colonist pay more for popular items like tea and paper by putting on more tax. These reactions the colonists could be described as repeals for canceling a law, or the Continental Congress who tried and did make things better for the 13 colonies, boycott to make British change laws. A repeal is when the Parliament changes a law they made, like the Townshend act the reason it was repealed was because the colonists boycotted by not buying items like paper, and tea. But the North Lord saw that this made them lose a lot of money so he repealed the law. The Continental Congress happened for the first time in 1774 with close to 50 leaders from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia. They wrote a respectful letter to King George to recognize the colonies
