What Are Thomas Jefferson's Major Achievements

Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America, was born on April 13, 1743 in Shadwell, Virginia. Thomas was the first president to be inaugurated in Washington DC and was also one of the first presidents to go to college. Thomas was one of the founding fathers of the United States. He was also one of the many authors for the Declaration of Independence in 1776, which was a big step for America. He ran for president in the 1800s and he was elected in 1801, which he served a total of two terms, which later on ended on 1809. (Wikipedia) While Thomas Jefferson was president he accomplished many things. One of Jefferson’s major presidential achievements was the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, through which the United States
acquired all the lands owned by the French in North America. It doubled the size of the United States. Another major accomplishment was the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The Lewis and Clark Expedition was to explore the Northwest Territory in order to observe a transcontinental route and natural resources.
Through these achievements and more, Jefferson was a great leader for the United States of America. He loved all kinds of science but he believed agriculture was the most important science. By himself, he re-engineered the plow according to scientific principles that came from Sir Isaac Newton, the inventor of mathematical physics. (Science Education) After president he left the office, he married a women named Martha Wayles Skelton, with whom he lived happily for ten years until she died. They had six children, but only two survived to adulthood. Jefferson never remarried after Martha. That shows that he was not only a loyal president but he was also a loyal husband. (Wikipedia)
