1. How does change occur?
Change is fundamental in therapy, as a result the main reason clients/family seek professional help in the first place is the desire for something to change or they yearn to change others. According to Tartakovsky, “In therapy, change may mean letting go of dysfunctional relationship patterns, irrational beliefs and self-sabotaging behaviors and then replacing them with a more positive, conscious and proactive mode of operation that leads to greater happiness, wellness and success” (2016). What are your basic goals in therapy and how do you propose to achieve these goals?
Basic goals of therapy includes practicing in an ethical manner, adhering to the procedures and policies established at the agency, implementing positive long-lasting changes, following the Code of Ethics, and being a social worker that stays current with research. Achieving these goals requires participating in continuing education classes, engaging in supervision sessions regarding the best therapy practices when serving the clients, reading and getting familiar with the agency policies/procedures, consulting the Code of Ethics, and advocating for positive changes on clients
