I would go to school very tired, and my brain wouldn’t function the same most of the time. When professors would be giving lecture I would fall asleep with my eyes open. I didn’t know what was going on most of the time. Being tired from work caused me to fall behind on assignments and fail most of my tests. I knew I wasn’t doing very good in school, but I worked because I had to pay for my school books, gas, insurance, and my phone bill. I had English 914, Math 095, Student development, and Sociology 100 out of the four classes I failed two classes that semester. When I saw my final grades at the end of the semester I decided to leave my job. I decided to put more effort into school than working at the warehouse. I felt like I wasn’t doing a good job by prioritizing the money I would earn at the warehouse than my grades and education. Once the first semester ended I decided to get morning classes, and leave my job to see if I would do better in school because at the end of the day I know that by passing my classes I will be closer to where I want to be, which is to be working as a Medical Sonographer. Sacrificing my job for my education was very beneficial to me because I find myself doing better than last semester with better grades, and being more focused. Finally, I agree to the article because I have seen many occasions where sacrificing for others really is rewarding at the end, like I have seen my parents sacrifice for my siblings and I. My parents came from Nayarit Mexico illegally with my three older sisters Maria, Gaby, and Neide. They came to the United States to have a better life, and give my sisters a better opportunity to education. A year later I was born in Los Angeles, I was lucky enough to be born in the United States, which meant I had a little more benefits than my sisters. My parents always struggled from low income. My dad works in Construction with his brother. He has always been a hard worker. He works more than 40 hours a week and sometimes weekends too.
