What Does It Mean To Be Kind Essay
When I look at my younger cousins they remind me of my younger self. Carefree, happy, spontaneous and kind. The word kind is an interesting noun; I say this because I am curious of what does it mean to be kind? to get along with others? To me kindness is being generous, compassionate, warm, understanding, and helpful using actions or words. For example, letting your friend vent by staying quite and listening, opening a door for a stranger, or saying hello to someone.
Kindness in its entire context is something we rarely see in the world we live in today. It is now to my understanding that acts of kindness don't necessarily mean to give a homeless man a hundred-dollar bill, or donating thousands of dollars to a charity of choice. Acts of kindness

I am an active member of a service organization called Key Club. One day during Key Club week is Random Acts of Kindness Day. My goal was to start implementing this in my everyday life. On a daily basis, we can be selfish to the needs of others without even realizing it. Everything was put in perspective for me when one afternoon I stopped by the Dollar Tree to pick up some supplies. It was the cashiers birthday and she was turning 74. We wished her a happy birthday and she explained how her family had not planned anything for her birthday. After we left we decided that we should go ask her if she would like to go out to eat and we’d sing her happy birthday. She said she couldn’t because her husband would be waiting for her. So we sang for…

Kindness is a virtue. Among humans, this trait is remarkably important when it comes to the care and treatment of one another in a set community. As these communities evolve, it has been seen that the kinder, more positive group has thrived and therefore will continue to prosper. Many agree that we all obtain the quality of empathy, but it’s whether we choose to show it or not is what makes the difference. This discussion of kindness is seen in Olivia Judson’s passage, “The Selfless Gene”. Within this short passage, Judson discusses that empathy is deemed to be innate in humans. However, many argue that empathy is more of a choice, and we can choose whether to feel it or not. This ideology is expressed in Daryl Cameron’s, “Empathy Is Actually…

The Lord is a very generous and loving God. We, as followers and believers of Christ, should be thankful for everything He does. Many people in the world are not thankful for all the things the Lord does for them. They tend to complain about their life and worry about what they do not have rather than think about all the things they are privileged to have. People worry too much about who has the best phone, or car, or house, etc. and they do not focus on what is really important, which is their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is very easy to think of all the things we do not have and be unthankful. We can be jealous and covetous. But the hard thing to do is to remember to thank God for everything He has provided for us and for the wonderful life that He has given us.…

Last but not least, helping is one nice reaction of people to homeless one. It shows not only the humanity but also the sharing of us. Once in an idyllic evening, I was driving along the way home, I saw a young boy who was giving a bottle of water to a homeless man. Surprisingly, every day I go home, I see that action. The little boy has tried to help that man just by giving him water, but I feel happy because there are kind people who are willing to help others in poor…

In our modern world, it is unfortunate that kindness seems to be one of the most neglected character traits people choose to cultivate in their everyday lives. Kindness is listed by Paul as one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit -- the nine visual traits that distinguish authentic Christian living -- in Chapter 5 of Paul's letter to the Galatians. Confucius instructed his followers to "recompense kindness with kindness." One of the Ten Perfections in Buddhism is Metta, or "loving-kindness." According to the Talmud, "deeds of kindness are equal in weight to all the commandments."…

During our last class session, while I was watching the video on random acts of kindness, it reminded me that performing random acts of kindness, is something that I need to incorporate more into my life on a regular basis. I actually had a warm and fuzzy feeling inside knowing that many people have done so many kind things to me. I too have done many kind things to others; but, I had still not decided to incorporate this small thing into my life. I immediately realized that life is about being a blessing to others; however, there are times when people need to see tangible things done for them. When we give things that are tangible, it is one way to help others see Christ in us. I found out that there are many ways to show random acts of kindness. I had the opportunity to put this concept into action in several ways since our last class.…

Kindness is something that takes effort. I was never exposed to much growing up but as soon as i saw alittle I could recognize it immediately. It sticks out like a cloud in the sky. One person who helped me understand kindness is my life mentor Tom Alkema. In my housing program for former foster youth we get volunteer life mentors. He volunteered to be my mentor and actually took me to my first laker game. Which being a sports fan in Southern California, was better then going to Disney land 5 times in a row. He had no motive to dedicate his time, but he chose to anyways. He showed me kindness through explaining his life principles and priorities and passed his knowledge to me. His kindness and ongoing care touched my life and showed me the importance of passing on the same kind of kindness to other people. The strive for kindness not only means touching other people's life but by controlling your own actions when someone's is being rude or hostile to you. Being a kind person can control your temper and salvage alot of relationships. This is why I keep kindness in my life as a priority and principle. I expierienced the effect and how much i appreciated it from other people. Its a principle that teaches me to be a better…
