Kindness is something that takes effort. I was never exposed to much growing up but as soon as i saw alittle I could recognize it immediately. It sticks out like a cloud in the sky. One person who helped me understand kindness is my life mentor Tom Alkema. In my housing program for former foster youth we get volunteer life mentors. He volunteered to be my mentor and actually took me to my first laker game. Which being a sports fan in Southern California, was better then going to Disney land 5 times in a row. He had no motive to dedicate his time, but he chose to anyways. He showed me kindness through explaining his life principles and priorities and passed his knowledge to me. His kindness and ongoing care touched my life and showed me the importance of passing on the same kind of kindness to other people. The strive for kindness not only means touching other people's life but by controlling your own actions when someone's is being rude or hostile to you. Being a kind person can control your temper and salvage alot of relationships. This is why I keep kindness in my life as a priority and principle. I expierienced the effect and how much i appreciated it from other people. Its a principle that teaches me to be a better

One important effect of virtue is illustrated through kindliness. Jesus was a great example of kindliness. He would hang out with the lowly and sick when nobody else would even if people criticized Him for it. Kindliness is normally the first effect of virtue developed because it has been engrained in our minds since our first years, yet it still can be a struggle to become kind. “Kindliness forbids you to be over-bearing towards your associates, and it forbids you to be grasping” (Seneca 4). Seneca is saying that kindliness is putting someone else’s interest in front of one’s own interest. Even though kindliness is a simple concept, it is often hard for people because selfishness is an epidemic in the world today. “In words and in deeds and in feelings it [Kindliness] shows itself gentle and courteous to all men.” Kindliness isn’t just being kind in actions or words, but also being calm and genuine in one’s thoughts. Even during difficult and enraging situations; kindliness…

People take your kindness for granted. Some do not consider others feelings before they act upon anything they do. Other people are just disrespectful. We have to learn how to deal with it and never follow in the footsteps of disrespect. Kindness is important, always go that extra mile for someone just as much as you would want them to. You both might need each other one day and you will need that extra support or lift. You are always supposed to treat somebody the way you want to be treated. So remember, if you want respect you have to give respect. It is not an easy thing to come by these days but it is always worth a try to see if people will treat you how you are supposed to be treated, because it is one of the easiest things for people to talk about but the hardest thing for people to…

A philosophy that I now follow is to be humble which I define as to put other people first and yourself last. Early in my life, I had these three experiences that are perfect attendance, riding a bike for the very first time, and insisting to play with heat or fire. My two accomplishments are joining Tae Kwon Do & being able to forgive someone after many years. My three areas of growth would be to overthink less, avoid distractions, and plan things ahead. With my early life experiences, accomplishments, and areas of growth, they all shaped me to be the person I am as of today.…

In Paul Ford’s, “How to Be Polite,” he discusses the lessons he has learned over the years on how to be an undeniably pleasant person. He gives examples from times throughout his life where kindness has come into play. Ford shares experiences from high school, where politeness went unnoticed and, for the most part, unrewarded. However, later in life kindness helped him in the workplace and in social scenes. He also mentions that politeness has helped him look at people in a vulnerable way, that each and every one of them has problems that are unknown to others.…

One of the earliest times that I remember committing an act of kindness was the one that made my mother the most proud. I was in the fourth grade and considering that I had just moved to a new school, I wasn't exactly the most extroverted person in my grade level. Maybe that was why everyone was so shocked to see me, of all people, standing up against a bully.…
