One of the inventions that the Sumerians invented that could show evidence of them being the first civilization includes the sculpture of a chariot. This artifact was the clay tablet. The tablet I noticed had many different shapes and patterns on it, which could have been pictographs. It says later that the scribes from the Temple of Bau recorded the amount of barley that families would receive from the government. That shows examples of the elements of civilization. It shows us that they had a stable food supply, they had some form of writing, and that they had some sort of government. They probably had a stable food supply because the tablet is for recording the amount of food each person gets. They probably also had a strong form of writing because their form of writing was of pictographs, which was a way of communicating and writing at the time.
