The women stopped their chatter and sipped their tea as if they weren't just talking about
me. We sipped our tea and ate our cakes and began sweat under our corsets and skirts in silence until Miss Stephanie Crawford broke the peace we were having.
“So Alexandra, what does Atticus have to say about all of this, what with that Tom Robinson going to jail?” She said. “Well-,” I began to say.

I walked back into the lounge and sat down, asking if anyone needed more tea as tears strained against the inside of my eyes, begging to be released. But no matter, I must keep positive, I am a woman. Women show no fear.
