Life for people in the 1900 was very different from the lives we live today. Some of the main problems that people faced were food, hygiene, and lifestyle the way and things they must do for survival.
The lifestyle of people was a struggle for people. They couldn’t afford to call a doctor. They had to use candles to light the house. They wore corsets & petti coats. The families collected mail three times a day. Their clothes were washed at home, in boiling water. Women would spin the clothes with a stick. Wash took twelve hours to do so they only did bed linens and undergarments. On wash day girls would stay home from school to help their mother. Irons were heated on the stove. Women were not allowed to work outside

The movie says a lot about the time period itself. First, we can see that superstitions played a role. In one scene on Halloween night, some of the girls dress up and throw flour in someone’s face and say they hate them in order to “kill them”. Also, the way they thought about love and marriage was much different. In the movie, the girls fall in love very quickly and are proposed to at a young age, which is often much different then modern day. Also, we can see from the movie that money plays a role in lives. The father tried to uproot his family in an attempt to make more money to support the family and provide for them. Finally, events were much more formal during the early 1900s. The girls constantly wore pretty dresses and the men were usually wearing ties. At the high school dance they had assigned dancing partners and…

They were doing everything at home. They took care of the children, the house, and the food for the family. Sometimes, life demanded that they work the fields with their husbands. In fact, another difference the Roaring Twenties held was that it occurred after World War I, and thus was the first age with a major war prior to it occurring. Moreover, this war, World War I, acted as mostly a wake-up call to Americans and was one of the most underlying causes of the anxiety and even the most common actions of Americans during the time. Going into the war, much of the youth thought of it positively, because the last war, the War of 1812, resulted in America’s victory and the youths themselves never experienced the death of wars. Coming out of the war, many finally gained the insight of war truly was and what it truly did, and as a result, many tried to live their lives to the fullest they could, which resulted in heathenism, which was one of the most common lifestyles during the 1920’s.…
