What Is My COOP Experience Essay
Throughout my life I did not really see myself in any kind of career field, I found it very difficult to pick a job or even find something I’d consider myself to be good at. After doing COOP it has come to my attention that I would like to learn more about the placement I have been at these last few months. I feel like this is the right placement for me, I am comfortable with the environment if anything I want to dig deeper and do more studies on different stages that occur before clients show up to my placement. What I mean by this is that my COOP placement has been at The Vitanova Foundation and we are a treatment facility. Clients that come here are already sober and working on being healthy. I want to know what clients are like when they are at a detox and just coming off of the substances they been using. As of right now my ideal career is to be an Addictions counsellor. In order to get to …show more content…
Nonetheless if I were to calculate the cost of my BSW, between tuition, residence and books I’d be looking at about $64, 000. The way I see it at this point is that my ideal school at this moment for this program would be WLU. Off campus residence at Brantford is reasonably priced and if I do want the opportunity to get my master’s degree it would only take me one more year in comparison to two, giving me a competitive job advantage. WLU in the long run could help save me time and money in my educational career. Their programs only requirements are for an average above 70 and to have an ENG4U credit completed with an average above 75. At this moment in my life I can see myself going down a pathway quite easily. Finish school with an average above 70, start at WLU to obtain a BSW, continue for an MSW and after all that education will I search for a career to put it to

Columbus County has become my home for the past three years. During my exploration of Columbus County I chose to ask Michael Brown, Mark Howard, Christina Perdue; MD, Dr. Kevin Bratton; Ph.D., and Addie Mae Haley. I thought it would be interesting to get the opinions of five people with different occupations, and experiences in life. Michael Brown is a Southeastern Community College student, his major is Education, geared towards a history profession. I received his thoughts during an interview at Southeastern on February 5th. Mark Howard is a Shift Manager at McDonalds here in Whiteville, as well as a retired Army Soldier. I was able to talk to him face to face during one of his breaks on January 29. Christina Perdue; MD, is my family’s doctor here in Whiteville at Southeast Primary Care. Dr. Perdue is always very busy so I spoke to her via telephone for her opinion on February 17th. Kevin Bratton; PhD, is one of our deans here at Southeastern Community College, and an awesome instructor. Dr. Bratton responded to my email on January 31st. And finally, the best for last, Addie Mae Haley, she worked in Blueberry and Tobacco fields when she was young, and after she was married she became a domesticated house wife. Mrs. Haley’s my oldest interviewee, at the great age of 85, and was born and raised in Columbus County. I was able to interview her face to face on January 20th. All five of these Columbus County residents gave me a great outlook on what they all though was important to…

They have a unique cost-cutting education system where you pay by the semester, not by each credit. So as you complete each course and then add more within that semester, you can actually reduce your overall cost for that degree. There are also savings found when you do not have to take additional certification classes and tests outside of your normal tuition, because it is all included. Another cost saving piece is that the school provides all the course materials for free, the books for each class is provided electronically. You save on commuting, as well as room and board which can also add to the bottom line of your education costs. The value of going to WGU for a top quality education is an undeniable benefit to you and your family, and should be a major factor in your…

Since age eleven, the military was single handedly the only career field I could possibly fathom myself going into. Upon coming to and registering for Blackman High School, joining JROTC was a no brainer. Especially when I learned I could take this class in substitution for gym class. JROTC is more than a class; it is a program all its own and within it are kids with a future. I would like to believe that JROTC is greatly contributing to this and really guiding us as students in the right direction. Even if our sights are set on something other than the military after graduating high school, JROTC looks great on a college application. Not only in that does it make a positive impact on those, but in ourselves as individuals as well. JROTC teaches us confidence, integrity, respect, and leadership skills. This is my first year in JROTC and I am very new to it all, but I am eager to take away from it precisely that. I trust this program to teach me to be not only a leader, but also a good follower with teamwork skills and confidence in my peers. Being in the company of such great people, both students and staff, I feel I am on the right path to be taking action on learning so.…

I am a graduate from Glen Oaks Community College and I would love to continue my education with Glen Oaks and their Nursing Program. I am a very athletic person, therefore in my free time my activities include running, playing sports, coaching and being involved with my family. Working two jobs, one being a Nursing Assistant and Unit Technician at The Community Health Center of Branch County and the other doing in home care for an elderly patient, does make it difficult to find free time. With what little free time I do have I enjoy spending it with my family as they are very important to me. I try to make it a routine to visit with my grandmas to have lunch with them and to drive them around where ever is needed due to the fact that they both cannot drive. I am currently training to run a marathon in May. During softball season, I volunteer with the coaching staff at the Coldwater High School. My greatest satisfaction so far in life, is the fact that I am one of few to have graduated from a college with a degree within my family. I am proud to say that I have paid for me education with my hard work. I hope with the help of Glen Oaks Community College I can obtain a new satisfaction of becoming a nurse. It would be my dream come true.…

An addiction counselor has many roles; counselor is only one of them. Others include interventionist, mediator, advocate, change agent, adviser, and facilitator (Lecture Module 4, 2013). While treating a client those roles are constantly changing and are necessary to help a client to overcome addiction. In addition the counselor must be able to maintain a balance of ethical, moral, and legal behavior while treating their clients. This may seem easy; however there are often blurred professional boundaries present that the counselor is forced to navigate flawlessly or risk upsetting the balance between helping and hurting their client.…
