What Is My Passion For Psychiatry

Unlike most college freshman, I believe I have a substantial understanding of a passion I wish to pursue. Through various classes and personal connections, I have found an excited curiosity in the field of psychiatry. I have the hopes of pursuing my MD and using this platform to create a non-profit foundation aimed at providing people in need with psychiatric care and counseling. To achieve this goal I have decided to major in biology and minor in psychology as well as participate in undergraduate research. These topics, as a foundation for both my academic and professional career, will allow me to pursue my passion for psychiatry and achieve the high goals I have set for myself.

The combination of my goals, current academic endeavors, and passion for mental health will allow me to establish the appropriate platform and infrastructure to create such an organization. Mental health is widely misunderstood and often regarded as inessential and subordinate to physical health. I sincerely believe that the inclusion of mental health care is as essential to the wellness of an individual. The respect I hope to achieve in my work as a psychiatrist will give the company validation as I battle through the common misconception that mental health care is inessential. Statistics support the conclusion that poverty can cause a cascade of ailments that, in turn, result in a drastic increase in mental illness. This concludes that people who cannot afford to have mental health care are often the ones that need it the most. Furthermore, the experience I hope to gain through my personal practice and research will be essential to how I conduct this business. It will govern how I distribute care and oversee each individual. I find it pertinent that everyone has access to mental health care and I am certain that my current and future academic goals, as well as my extracurricular research, will assist my journey to my ultimate
