Paths are something you choose and have to stick to, and choosing the right path is a very crucial decision. Rigg, a boy with extraordinary powers to see different people’s ‘paths’. He can recognize people paths and show them what to do. He can see anyones path except for his father, who everyone says is nameless and is ageless. After Rigg finds that his father is apparently crushed by a tree, Rigg sets out to find his mother and sister, who are apparently royalty. Especially someone you don’t know and don’t know what their intentions are. Everyone Rigg meets on his journey falls into 2 categories: Friend or Enemy. He has to take a chance to trust someone or not. At first he did not trust Umbo because of their known past, but eventually they gain each other’s trust and understand and feel for each other. Another different example is when he trusted his mother before he found out her true intentions. Not good. Rigg has a lot of pressure on him, throughout the entire book. Who can he trust, and who is plotting against him are possibilities of things he is always thinking
