From the reading titled, "Effective Human Resource Practices"; please describe what you learned about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Legislation Protecting the Disabled and one more law that you find interesting.
What I learned about the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is that under title VII all organizations with fifteen or more employees are required to adhere to nondiscriminatory practices in all aspects of their treatment of employees. I did not know that there had to be a certain number of employees required for the Act to be enforced. In addition, what I learned is that all organizations that receive substantial funds must comply. What I learned about the Legislation Protecting the Disabled is that active drug use is not a disability. I found it to be interesting that this was included under ADA because I think this should be self-explanatory. The last Act that found to be interesting was the Patriot Act of 2001 broadens government ability to review employment records and monitor financial flows.
