Justinian's code is a body of Roman law that was codified under Justinian I. Emperor Justinian I ruled from ad 529 to 565. One thing about the Justinian's code is that it was based off of and name of an emperor named Justinian. During his reign he marked the Byzantine empire with the Hagia Sophia. The Hagia Sophia is still in good shape today as a museum in in Istanbul, Turkey. But sadly the Justinian Code affected many people including jews, women, and even children. The code was based off the Emperor Justinian.
The source and basis of Justinian Code is the Twelve Tables. The Twelves Tables are the legislation that stood at the foundation of Roman law. The Tables consolidated earlier traditions into an enduring
set of laws. And a big part of the Justinian's Code.
Final authority over the code was the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantine Empire was founded around 330. To protect the empire people built straits- two bodies of water that connect to two other sets of water. Also used moats— a trench filled with water basically for people to drowned people. And Thebes’s if all the Greek Fire— a chemical that burned even in water. Chains were around water to stop chains from coming in. And cannons were used to keep others away and to break down walls. There were also two ring walls surrounded by water in three sides.
Religion influences the code off some different ways. One way that the Jews were affected by the Justinian Code is that since they weren’t apart of the Eastern Orthodox faith they couldn’t go to the Hagia Sophia. And the Eastern Orthodox a.k.a Christians were anti Jewish. Then Eastern Orthodox covered To the Slav religion.
So how the religion influenced the code and affected the Jews. By the final authority which is the Byzantine Empire. And even the source and basis of the code which is the amazing twelve Tables. Which was all based off of the Justinian Code of the Byzantine Empire
