What Is the Difference Between Living and Existing?
Why i will choose this question because I found that it sounds quite interesting. Actually everyone of us might be confusing in this question because we don’t really know that we are living or existing in this world. How do we define it? Maybe for someone it will be quite easy because it can be find through the way you live and your lifestyle…

The first question for me is what is living? For my opinion living is doing things your way. Doing reckless things, things you've always wanted to do. Fulfilling every dream you have and helping others to fulfill theirs. And living is also about waking up everyday knowing that your live has purpose and meaning because you make it so. Living is manifesting dreams into reality, actualizing your full potential. That's living.

Follow by what is existing? Existing is simply being on earth. Not doing anything of any significance, just breathing. Like you waking up everyday only because your metabolic processes need you to eat or drink something to keep going. Existing is going through the motions, letting life happen to you instead of making things happen.

I think the biggest distinction between living and existing comes from how much control you have over life decisions. Where do you see control coming from? In general, someone who exists feels as if everything is outside of their control while someone living knows they determine the path their life takes.

Emotions have a big role to play in this. Someone who exists lets emotions such as fear and anger dictate what they can and can’t do. Someone who is living understands those emotions, controls them and doesn’t let them interfere with their decisions.

People who simply exist do the same boring routine every day even though they don’t really like it. They don’t take any chances on improving their life just so they can maintain their current comfortable lifestyle. This is because they are unable to take control of their decisions.

People who is living they will

What is life for human beings ? Is a life of mere existence worth living? Is that what we want? Or do we want to be just like McCandless and actually live life to the fullest by taking chances to discover our deeper selves. I'm not saying we should all go do something that we want to and go die. What I'm saying is that life is…

It is interesting to see the “evolution” of these 3 worldviews. From the Naturalist who views everything as natural in it’s existence – you exist based on your senses and experiences alone to the Secular Humanist with their realization that humans are wonderful – great creatures with personalities and determinations, but it doesn’t matter…to the Atheistic Existentialist (AE) – who finally realizes that the innermost feelings and desires we have as humans do exist, but would be better off “killed” or cut out than to be nurtured and followed.…

Being and Unbeing doesn’t have a certain definition because it’s based on the person’s value. Everyone has a different opinion of what’s good and bad so the definition of being and unbeing is based on the person. There is three poets that explain what they think being and unbeing is through their poem. Three poets: Sonia Sanchez, The Roots, and ee cummings write about their perspectives on being and being. Each poet may have a different definition for being, but they all have on definition in common for “being” be yourself.…

Existentialism is a philosophy that emphasizes a few main points, such as free will, and choices should be made without the assistance of another person or standard. From the existentialist point of view you must accept the risk and responsibility of your choices and follow the commitment wherever it leads. There are many ways to view life. The way life is viewed by an individual is the way his morals are set. The existentialist, believes that life is absurd and meaningless. Most people do the same thing every day, going to work, eating, then sleeping. It’s a very dull way of living, yet most people don’t do anything about it. Of course, it’s not easy; leaving such a stasis life can be difficult, and it’s easier to not get in to that cycle than leaving it. However, being more spontaneous in life, even if you have to put in more effort, it’s better than being stuck in that…

Life is the period between one’s birth and death. Most of us have a view of life in which it is more or less the same for everyone. A person is born. A person participates in the daily routine of school, family life and friends. A person finds love, gets married, grows old, and finally dies. Our Town follows this cycle of life.…

Most of us probably agree with this as soon as we read it. We imagine a large slob being a couch potato all day and grimace with disgust as we feel a sense of pride that we ourselves are not that way. But who are we to judge someone for living a sedentary life. We have no idea what they went through to get where they are today. We don't know their reasoning, and have no clue whether this lifestyle might actually have been their ideal idea of a meaningful life. I could flip Wolf's statement and ask what if someone’s goal is to not be actively engaged. What if their purpose is to meditate and find perfect zen. To do absolutely nothing. But wolf doesn't take that into consideration. She assumes theses cases she has sketched out "capture our images of meaninglessness more or less accurately, [and] provide clues to what a positive case of a meaningful life must contain" (pg.2). But they don’t, these cases capture our images of a meaningless life. Wolf states "in contrast to the Blob’s passivity, a person who lives a meaningful life must be actively engaged" (pg.2). while this is simply not true. If you think you need to be "actively engaged" to live a meaningful life that is simply your opinion. You chose to make being actively engaged a criteria of a meaningful life and you can't force that on anyone else. Just like someone might make meditation and being able to think of nothing a criteria of living a meaningful life. They might not fit the criteria of living a meaningful life by your definition, but that's what's so great about it. You find what works for you and let it work for you. A less fortunate person who has nothing might look at my life and think I’m an over consuming, North…

    Life Worth Living

People have different perspectives on how is life worth living. For me, there are many things that make my life worth living. Life offers many challenges but through the love that I receive from my family and friends I become strong enough to face them. Love that I can receive as I live is what makes my life worth living. The opportunity to receive and share it to others really makes my life worth living. Happy moments that I spend with my loved ones also make my life worth living. They help me create good memories as I continuously live. Another one is the chance to improve myself as an individual and to have a purpose on other’s life. As I explore my potentialities, it’s worth living to have an impact on other’s life. It’s like knowing that if I leave this world, I’ll be remember by those people which I have left an impact. And life is worth living because it lets us experience failures and attain success. Failures strengthen us to face the struggles and obstacles that we will encounter while success makes room for more improvement to be an individual worthy to be called as successful.…

Do we “live” or “exist”? These terms almost mean the same thing as far as their denotation goes. To be alive means to exist, we are conscious, we breathe and we think its reality, and to exist means being alive. Although, the word “live” has other meanings as well such as referring to a place where one dwells, or someone’s lifestyle, it isn’t the same as living. When someone refers to living life they usually use it in positive phrases like “I’m living life to the fullest” or “Living the good life”. Usually it means their lives are full of positive emotions, such as happiness and love, and see the beauty of life around them. To live is to be a free and conscious being with an emotionally driven life. On the other hand, existing is just being alive, physically. Also, the word “exist” can sometimes carry a negative connotation with it. People use exist as a way to refer to someone just being there and say phrases like “Why do you even exist?” or when describing one’s lifestyle they say “How can they exist and survive with low income?” To exist is to have yourself physically taking up space, but not aware and “living”, usually just “Existing to the fullest”. In regards to Charles Siebert’s essay “Where Have All the Animals Gone? The Lamentable extinction of Zoos” he mentions the Rhino at the zoo in Brooklyn that he named Rudy. Rudy was physically there; he was existing, but not living. He described Rudy as having his head up 1 inch from the Earth and looking for a way out with his weary eyes. After his transfer to a “safari-like” place, he was said to be living happier. Every being whether animal or human is “existing”, but are they “living”?…
