In William Shakespeare’s Romeo Juliet, and Juliet’s parents believe that Juliet and Count Paris are the ones for each other and decide to marry them. Juliet, however, is very young and far from ready for marriage. Many people have very different views on arranged marriages, some are against is while others are for it. Choosing a partner could be life changing in both positive and negative ways. Parents should not choose for their children in arranged marriages because the child may be too young, the child may not know the other person, and the risk of divorce is higher than average.

Zama said that his wife “Sameera, is emotional, quick to love and anger, while I am rational almost nothing ever rousing my temper” (3). In this situation, it could lead to divorce due to the couples differences. Although Zama also state “now we consider ourselves absolutely perfect for each other”(3). This would be an example of a situation when an arranged couples differences helps throughout their marriage. Divorce rates may be higher than average for arranged marriages, but there is also a possible chance the couple may stay together.
Many parents want the best for their child, but choosing the one their child should marry is not the answer.
