What Is the Meaning of Sex?
Does sex refer to a pleasurable thing, is sex beautiful, is sex art, is sex a sign of love, or is sex just for fun in the moment? Meaningful or meaningless?
Sex used to be a special thing, and until now, little has changed about it. If we just say: “sex only for fun, for one night stand,” for some people this is fine, it is good, it is fun, it is exploration and so on. We should never judge what people said about it, we can respect it, because every person is different, unique; with different perceptions, and different cultures - but can we say, one night stand makes sex to be more priceless or more meaningless these day? Without saying what is right or what is wrong, with people presumably now finding it easier to get laid or have sex with random people who they just met at a bar or somewhere else, does it make it harder for us to find real love and for experiencing real sex. I know, it’s kind of a conservative view but it’s just what I think because for me, sex should be the special thing that you can do with a special person at the right time… But at the end, no matter how different we are as a human, the most important thing is to respect each other. If we can respect each other, then we can accept what the reason is behind everything, including different perceptions of sex. My thoughts are, if your partner asks you to have sex, and you are not even ready for it, your partner should know what your reasons are and he or she should respect your decision no matter what. If your partner couldn’t understand and accept it, then he or she is not worth it to be with. If your partner loves you, then they should be willing to wait. If sex is meaningful for you, it is worth the wait. Sex and love are two important things that involve two people in a relationship. Communication is the basic for building a good relationship. Acceptance, respect, and trust strengthen relationships. The more of these you have, the more you can live a happy loving

In his essay “ Hook-up Culture,” Jack Grimes tries to figure out why the generation of people right now are more interested in hook-ups rather than relationships, while arguing that hook-ups are more than just a fling but for fulfillment of personal needs. Grimes starts off by stating a reason for hook-ups being mostly hormones. Also, he talks about people who are into hook-ups might not have the commitment that relationships need. Next, hook-ups are roughly defined as casual sexual encounters that do not lead to anything in the future. Some pro’s Grimes talks about is having the liveliness of hook-up your letting someone else see what they usually can’t. Also getting closer to them, while getting the pleasure that they like you enough to…

In the article “It Just Happens”, agreeing to Melanie Beres’ article, by saying that ‘it just happens’, it renounces the responsibility and action in portraying in the encounter of having casual sex. Most of the contributors agreed that alcohol play’s a vast role in the choices and actions that they make. Particularly for women, forwarding the accountability to alcohol allows women to feel less immoral. Though both genders describe their arrangement as “it just happens”, men tend to more often look for casual encounters and one nights stands at clubs and bars as a sign of dominance. Despite living in a society that is saturated with sexual media and conscious of the wide prevalence of premarital sex, there is still an unspoken insecurity that comes with addressing human sexuality. This is demonstrated by national policies that fund abstinence education instead of comprehensive sex education, laws that specifically outlaw sexual pleasure such as a ban on vibrators in 6 states, and continued queasiness about the topics of homosexuality and sexual identities beyond the established “norm”.…

She fails to include any examples of serious monogamous relationships that happened because of the use of dating apps more specifically Tinder. Every person interviewed had used Tinder with the sole intention of hooking up. Which leaves me questioning is Tinder really to blame for meaningless sex becoming more and more socially acceptable. After reading the article “You’re 100% Wrong About Tinder”, Nancy Jo Sales claim seemed less of a fact but more of an opinion. Of course, if your intentions for the app are to find someone to hook up with you’re going to find someone, there are millions of users on Tinder but not all users are on Tinder with the intention of finding someone to have a quick and meaningless hookup with. In the article “Inside The Hookup Factory”, Tinder’s capability of producing long-term monogamous relationships was acknowledged however in Sales’ piece it was not. It was overlooked as Nancy Jo Sales gave the notion that because of dating apps such as Tinder sex has become easy, and dating is becoming a thing of the…

Nowadays, casual hookups change the way people interact and communicate, which become the popular cultural change throughout the Westernized world. Taken together, Garcia, Reiber, Massey, and Merriwether (2012) discussed different approaches of viewing the topic of sexual hookup culture, whereas Vrangalova and Ong (2014) examined the moderating effect of sociosexuality on four indicators of psychological well-beings and casual sex. Although evolutionary theory explains why hookups are beneficial and valuable to individual, I believe socialization and cultural factor play the most significant role in shaping individual’s behaviors and motivations in casual sex regardless of individual and sex differences.…

Some simply see sex as a thing to do, for me it is much more than that. I was brought up to believe that sex is supposed to be something special that you do with the one you love. Today this “special” act is viewed as just the opposite. Kids and young adults do not care because they feel “it’s just sex”. It is sad to think that most take this topic so lightly. That is why I have chosen to be abstinent and wait to engage in sexual activity until marriage. This is a personal choice of mine, and I know some may agree or disagree.…

So, I think that's where the main difference lies. It’s not just the way we go about dating, and the means to which we meet people, it’s that the social norms that came along with dating then have slowly melted away. Society is more open with everything, including sex, and I prefer it that…

Good sex is the one on one intimacy you have with the person that you love as opposed to just hooking up with someone that you don’t have strong feelings for. Mutual attraction is also needed for good sex. Not only must you be attracted physically and emotionally, but you should also display your attraction towards that person. The other person should also display the attraction they feel towards you. Physical attraction is being attracted to their body and the way they look, also known as thinking that they are hot. The other person must be attracted to you as well and show their attraction which would boost your confidence. Being attracted to a person emotionally is being in love with them and truly caring about how the sex feels for them. If you are emotionally attracted to someone you want to make sure that they are enjoying the sex and feel just as amazing as you do. The actions that lead up to the sex can turn average sex into good sex. For example, if it is the first time you are seeing that person for quite some time it can make the sex good because of lust. I love romantic gestures; therefore, I would be turned on if the person I am having sex with goes out of their way to make the setting romantic with flowers, candles, etc. Foreplay such as blowjobs and fingering can also affect the outcome of the sex. All in all, great sex includes loving the person you are having sex with, being attracted physically and emotionally to that person, having that person be attracted physically and emotionally to you, length of separation from that person, romantic setting, and…
