It would not make a difference if the social worker rented a room or the entire house to the client. Renting to a client would be a business deal in which the social worker would further in their personal business interests making it unethical of the social worker to do. The NASW Code of Ethics 1.06 Conflicts of Interest states that social workers should not engage in relationships with clients to further personal, religious, political, or business interests.
A group member asks a social worker facilitating a treatment group if he is married; he says no but mentions that he is dating someone. The group member wants to know who he is dating.
