Without them able to open their mouth the wouldn’t be able to eat prey larger then as the adaptation allows the jaw to widen and skin to stretch. The snake is also able to kill its prey very easily by the venoms fangs they have adapted, which enables them to eat they prey without a fight as they prey has already killed the prey.
