What Is The Reflection Of Night By Elie Wiesel

In the story, Wiesel talks about what it was like to be sent to the concentration camp Auschwitz. Not only did he talk about what it was like to be sent there, but he also described what it was like to go through the camp. To me, I realized how brave Wiesel was to have been in such an awful and discriminating situation and still try to find hope. If it were me in his shoes I have no idea what I would have done. It’s hard to think about it considering that nobody I know has ever been in a situation close to that. I am sure that if it came down to it I could find the will to go on and give it all that I have. Just so I could live to have my family and other people know the truth behind not only what happened at the holocaust. But, my own personal
story.
This novel touched on a huge issue in our world today, Genocide. Genocide is considered as the mass discrimination of race, political views, or religious views. The Holocaust is one of the most well known examples of genocide in this world. Unfortunately, this is not the only example of genocide in the world. And there are many examples of this going on right now in our world today. Many times when genocide it occurs, most people, except that area of the country, do not know about it and especially cannot do anything to stop it. When The Holocaust occurred, everyday citizens in other countries knew absolutely nothing about it. Most nations’ governments knew what was going on but were not aware of the extremity of it or of how a solution could be created to solve the problem. When the Jewish culture in Germany first started being mistreated, they did not really notice it as much as you would expect. This attempt of extermination occurred so gradually that no one seemed to even be alarmed at first. They would just be limited to certain foods, or have to give up some of their belongings, but never did they think that it was going to escalate to their religious group murdered one by one. Nobody did, but eventually that is what it came to. Genocides today and in the recent years also slowly grow. Countries want to reach out and get help but aren’t sure how to do so. Therefore leaving us in a standstill on no idea what to do. And when they reach out to ask, we the people of the United States sometimes have no idea of what is going on. So what do we do to prevent these and stop the ones going on today? We can start by staying involved and educated in the news worldwide. These kind of things happen all around the world, all the time. Not in such an extreme way, but in a way that could unfortunately lead to such things if not stopped before they get to that point. By staying informed, we can then be aware as a nation of what is going on around us, and can inform our government of what we believe could be done and by doing so also encouraging them to take action when it comes to international genocides.
