Wilson is dumb, boring, and mean. Catherine also dislikes Daisy, Tom’s wife. She thinks it is Daisy’s fault that Tom and Myrtle cannot be together publically. Catherine also says that the reason behind this is that “She (Daisy) is a Catholic, and they don’t believe in divorce” (Fitzgerald 33). Nick, the narrator and cousin of Daisy, goes on to tell the audience that “Daisy was not a Catholic” (Fitzgerald 33).
Catherine most likely approves of Tom for more than just the fact that he and Myrtle are in love. She, almost certainly, approves of him because of his money and ability to support Myrtle. If he can support Myrtle and if Catherine will support their relationship through it all, then maybe he will give money to Catherine too. The fact that she supports an affair means that she would do it herself. Since she would probably do it herself, it might make it easier for her to find a man because he would know that she
