What Is The Theme Of A Different Soil Of Dream
The story, “A Different Sort of Dream” is about a boy named Luis who has a dream about becoming an artist. His family sells the crops they grow at the market but there was no rain so they were running out of crops to sell. His brother wanted to be a bullfighter and his father loved that but his father didn’t like how Luis wanted to be an artist. In the end, Luis was alone, drawing at the market when a man wanted to buy some artwork that Luis drew. Suddenly, he sold several and brought home extra money for his family. Now, his father was proud and gave him the extra money for art supplies. The theme of this story would be “never let someone judge your passions.”

This theme would be very suitable for this story. The reasoning for this is because in the story, paragraph 11, it states, “So Luis kept his dream to himself. He spoke very little for fear that others might laugh at him. He put all of his feelings into the pictures that he drew in secret.” My reasonings for this is because even though his father didn’t like that he wanted to be an artist and drew in his free time, he still did it and put all his feelings into it. Art is his passion and he doesn’t let his father get in his way.

They were all the pictures that he had drawn...A short time later, a man asked him about his drawings. “I’d like to buy this one,” the man said as he admired one particular drawing...Before the end of the day, three more people bought Luis’s drawings. Each person told Luis how wonderful his drawings were...There was enough money to buy food. There might even be some money left over.” This supports the theme because his father told him that drawing won’t get him money and it is nothing but then, Luis ended up getting money for the drawings. This shows that his passion was wrongly judged. Also, he ended up doing what his dad said that he couldn’t

Theme- In poetry, fiction, or drama, the theme is the dominating idea in a work (Pearson 547). In Ha Jin’s An Entrepreneur’s Story, the theme seemed to be disappointment. All throughout the story the main character thought by having money, the perfect girl, and everything that came along with it would make him happy. The outcome of the situation with Manshan, his wealth, and the mother-in-law shows him that getting what he wanted didn’t make his life turn out to be any happier than he pictured (Pearson 265).…

“Not like that!” My sister Hana used to yell at me every time I paused the video tape of a cartoon show. I would stand over the TV screen with my paper on the screen and pencil in my hand, copying my favorite characters. “I told you to draw, not to copy” she would add. “I want it to be perfect!” was my reply. At a very young age, I developed a passion for drawing. My sister used to challenge me to draw some of our favorite cartoon characters. From these humble beginnings I started to develop into a skilled painter. When my father recognized my talent, he bought me several drawing books. Although I have always enjoyed creating different types of art, portraits (drawing a person’s facial features), captured my interest the most. Portraits require…

As children, most of us experienced and even lived in a world of imagination where we were able to explore beyond the world we lived in. Whether it was a certain activity we engaged in or certain place we went to, these things helped us develop as children. Frazier and his friends would go to the woods to “explore” whatever was out there for them to find. They spent their time climbing trees and crushing ice for their own fun play time. Like Frazier, during my childhood I was always very absorbed in art. Drawing was a way for me to imagine a world where possibilities were endless. As I would draw no one really disturbed me because I was “taken away”. I didn’t have to worry about my drawing being the next Picasso masterpiece, or I didn’t have to worry about my drawing making sense at all. I was just drawing for…

The theme of It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini is life is filled with problems, but you need to work through them, and learn about yourself. An example of this being the theme is while Craig is in the hospital he discovers his love for art after realizing how much he enjoys art Craig decides to go to art school instead of his original high school. By adding this the author wanted the reader to recognize Craig making concrete plans for his future. This showed that Craig learned about himself and what he enjoys doing giving him a reason to live. This reminds me of when I was younger and played club soccer. Another example of this being the theme is the end of the book when Craig continuously tells himself to live. This is significant…

Art doesn't hold people’s hands through the rough patches, of course; she makes them work for it. Pablo Picasso said, “There is no abstract art. You must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality” (“Pablo Picasso Quotes”). This quotation interprets the true essence of abstract painting. What’s more, it reflects that Pablo Picasso did not only think about how to create a painting, but also thought about how to paint with inspiration from life and nature. As an abstractionist, Picasso’s works are not accepted by some artists and critics. However, his originality and skill have been praised for a long time. Money always tells the value of one’s painting. According to Bruno Dillen, one of Picasso’s paintings named Garçon à la Pipe, “depicting a Parisian boy holding a pipe in his left hand,” was bought at the price of $104.1 million at Sotheby’s New York in 2004. More than that, his other two paintings named Dora Maar with Cat and Femme aux Bras Croisés were sold at the prices of $95.2 million and $55 million (“Top 10 Most”). Picasso’s paintings are considered the innovation and mainstay of abstract painting. Why is he so important to the development of abstract painting? Apparently, it is his way of thinking and drawing that make it this. So, he felt that abstract paintings should be tied to reality. It is not enough to know these kinds of information about Picasso. So, let us go deeper and discover Picasso’s specialty, styles, influence on abstract painting, and the different periods of his career.…
