The beginning of the novel closely follows that of Rick’s other mythology novels. However, a chapter or two into the book, things get interesting. The characters are totally different and the mythology itself has several vast differences. The Red Pyramid focuses rather more on the mortal aspects than the divine. This being said, even without having a great understanding of Egyptian mythology, the reader will have an enjoyable experience reading this book.

However, most importantly, it sets up an epic and captivating journey for the reader. This novel is sure to grab the reader’s attention within reading the first
