I have always been captivated by the concepts and theories of what makes art “beautiful.” Since I am an artist myself, I had wanted to improve by finding what “beauty” is to everyone. As I learned in Theory of Knowledge (ToK) class, art, like history, is subjective to the individual, but one cannot deny there are some objective truths to the facts that compose the art world. I value and praise the spirituality of our moral principles and culture of my Chinese community. We believe you should live life to the fullest with hard work and resilience in spite of the rigid hierarchies. Additionally, I adore the ethnic foods, traditional teas, and simplistic arts, because it represents the engaging culture that we honor in the highest esteem. However, good characteristics could always become better with a little push towards the right direction. Our Asian community shuns new traditions, especially if they are evaluated as too “western” and consider assimilations of refined values as “westernization,” but rather they are improvements of our ancestral traditions. Ideas, such as accepting new people and aiming for new goals, can be implemented through a familial home and then expanded to other homes through communication and awareness of refined improvements to the community. He became a frequent visitor at the only local clinic who could speak Mandarin, which was the only way to communicate updates of the illnesses he had. Nevertheless, I was able to provide assistance to his ailment with my newfound knowledge of health and wellness I had recently learned in school. I started a fitness and diet schedule for both my grandparents that consisted of avoiding various fast and fried foods and staying healthily fit with a daily routine of stretches and walks.
