Captain Hunter visited Whisper mainly for more intel about this island, which in fact was very helpfull. Not only does Captain Hunter make sure he knows exaclty what he is going up against he also chooses his key membrers of his crew with great thought. Each member of this blood thirsty crew has many skills that will be crucial for the voyage. They are not your ordinary people, each and everyone of them are very unique and have experience living the unforgiving life of a pirate. Captain Hunter is devoted to his work he makes sure nothing will go wrong. Before his crew sets off at sea he makes sure everything is perfect. “Hunter also checked all the provisions, opening each barrel of pork and water, sniffing the contents, then plunging his hand to the bottom, to be certain it was filled all the way” (Crichton). From this you can infer that Hunter is very determined to have everything in line. Along with his desire to have everything perfect for the voyage he also makes sure everyhting goes his way. Even though Captain Hunter can’t guarentee a ticket back home; everyone still accepted his invite with great pleasure. He also receives all the supplies he needs. From gunpowder to water he has everything that he will need to succed in his darring voyage. With the help of Don Diego: one of the key crew members known as the Jew, he was able to frabricate something that did not exist. The fact that Captain Hunter is very street smart is another reason why I chose to chacterize him. First, he knows how to socialize with others. This skill is very important if you want to be a succesful captain. One reason that suports this statement is that everyone who Captain Hunter asked to join accepted with gratitude. Captain even got Sanson to come with by using the tactic of bargaining. Sanson is the most baddest of them all. Killing like its apart of the regular schedule. “He was known and feared everywhere” (Crichton).
Although he can act very wild and uncivlized Captain Hunter can also act like a born gentlemen. When his crew gets captured by an enormouse spanish vessle in command by the ruthless Cazalla Captain Hunter still manages to keep himself under control. “I can see that you are born a gentlemen” (Crichton). This statement was made by Cazalla which is a good indication that Captain didn’t let his feat get the best of knwoing whar Cazalla can do. Secondly, Captain Hunter is indeed an intelligent man judging by the way he prepared for the expidition. He starts off by packing plenty of food and water, which are the most important items that are essential for the voyage. Secondly, Captain Hunter’s experience out at sea in the past tought him a couple things. Including scavaging all the food and water knowing that it can go by fast. The full day of the voyage the crew did not eat or drink anything. Lastly, he is very cautiouse about the health of his crew members. Before he sets sail he has Mr. Enders check each crew member for signs of disease. Captain Hunter also questions each and every one of them. From this important information the reader can conclude that Captain has a very unique
personality.
