It is important that a balanced approach is taken in risk taking so that the children aren’t over protected. The children should be allowed to safely explore and make decisions about risks with the guidance of the staff within the setting. Children need to learn how to control risks for themselves, by learning what the safe boundaries are, by the staff showing the children how to recognise risks and dangers in the safest way possible.…
Our place of work should have clear written policies and procedures of health and safety. As practitioners we should oversee all health and safety checks regularly. Indoor and outdoor equipment should be checked before and after use. The environment we are using shoul also be checked. Eg, is the glass or gardening tools lying around the garden, are their bricks or toys on the floor on which some one could trip.…
With this goal of safety on our minds, I believe the bottom line of the emphasis on safety could be considered to be the training that each of us receives in our first weeks on the job as well as the training provided on a regular basis throughout each year of our employment with M-Global, so that we are always aware of how to operate in a safe manner. The training vehicle gives the company the mechanism to provide each of you with the means to become aware of the elements of safety that relate to the specific needs and requirements of your own particular job. Therefore, at this time I have come to the conclusion in the process of the new corporate emphasis on safety to our particular branch that we need to give much greater scrutiny and analysis to the way we can prevent accidents and emphasize the concern of safety at every stage of our operation for every employee. Toward this end, I have asked the training coordinator, Kendra Jones, to assemble a written training program that will involve all employees which will be implemented beginning no later than June of this year. When the plan has been written and approved at the various levels within the office, I will conduct a meeting with every department in order to discuss all details of the safety program.…
In order to provide safety, it demands an effort of the entire facility as a whole. As stated in the IHI Open School Basic Modules, the four main characteristics are “psychological safety, active leadership, transparency, and fairness”. I would create a safe environment in the healthcare setting by addressing any concerns the patient and/ or staff may have, being respectful and open-minded. I would create an open door policy, promoting communication and offering knowledge to ensure quality care and patient safety. If a mistake or error was made, I would help the individual in resolving the situation to ensure patient safety first as well as documenting the incident and focus on methods of prevention with the staff. For example, if a nurse approaches me with a question on how to insert an NG tube, I will not belittle the person or make smart remarks because doing so will create a harmful environment. Instead, I would offer my assistance and knowledge to ensure patient safety. Afterwards, to ensure competency and confidence of staff, I wound coordinate a mandatory in-service on NG tube insertion and placement. As an active leader, I would actively listen to my staff, addressing their questions and concerns. As a leader, I must realize that individuals are different and have different perspectives and/or beliefs about certain issues and the only way to know that is to listen. In my…
Awareness of Healthy and Safety is one of the most important factors in all workplaces. Safety is an essential basic human need, and it is vital that we allow everyone to feel as safe and secure as possible in life. So that there is a low risk of someone becoming hurt or ill, it is important to ensure the environment is safe before allowing anyone to work on the premises. We must be aware of how to provide a safe, healthy environment for children and young people, without risk of accident or emergencies taking place. When planning a healthy, safe environment for children and young people, it is essential to take a number of factors into consideration. These factors are; the…

The will be policies and procedures covering health and safety within our setting. As en employee you should be aware of all of the health and safety requirements. The setting should be safe for everyone and not pose risk of danger or injury. A system of safe practice should be in place. Any chemicals or substances should be stored safely and out of the way of the children. All staff should be given the appropriate training and information on the health and safety of the setting and safety regulations. If any protective clothing is needed then it should be provided free of charge. If and serious injuries or diseases were to happen then they should be reported to the health and safety executive. There should be first aid equipment provided. A representative of safety should be consulted about any issues affecting the work place. All employees…
Have you ever thought of walking out or you house and getting attacked by soldiers, or going to the local grocery store and have bacteria in the food, or not being able to get the health care you needed? Our safety is also something people take for granted every day. One of my dear friends went to Haiti, and she said every time she went out they would have to stay with their groups and they could NOT go out by themselves. Here in America children can run in their neighborhood and not have to worry about getting shot, murdered, beaten, or etc.…
Line manager and supervisors are responsible for the safety of their organisation units and operation. This old principle is extremely important in the safety world. This particular fundamental must be understood and accepted by all parts of the organisation. The safety professional’s jobs is to provide the staff support necessary to ensure that the line organisation is able to do its job well and effectively. The system safety effort does not relieve program or project managers or design engineers of their safety responsibilities.…
Risk Management includes mitigating any exposure to risk. Handling of patients deserves some care to assure their safety. The clinical setting takes up some injurious activities which if not taken with some care might be alarming to the patient. Ensuring that everything is put in place ensures safety. The clinical setting includes equipments which of mishandled may pose some risks to the patient. Patient affairs should be well handled since the patient might not be cautious enough to ensure his/her safety. Some of the methods involved in ensuring safety in a clinical setting include; using the right tool for the perceived purpose. Taking things for granted might land a patient in a bad situation (Mechanic, 2006). Mixing used and unused equipment may pose some risk to patients.…
Subsequently, since as nurses we spend a good sum of our shift time with our patients, we tend to impact the outcome of the patients more than other interdisciplinary team members. Factors that can prevent medical errors include providing an effective and safe patient care, monitoring quality indicators such as length of hospital stay, re- admission rate and conducting risk assessment. I also agree with you that leaders should play an important role of supporting their associates by putting in place safety measures that will reduce and completely eradicate unnecessary errors in the hospital facilities. According to Ammouri et al., 2014, In order to create a patient safety culture, many factors must be present and these include effective therapeutic communication about medical errors, appropriate staffing, procedure compliance, safe hazard free environment, and ongoing orientation and training for both new and other staff members (Ammouri et al.,…
In the Article “Redefining Security”, Richard H. Ullman argues that it would be much more beneficial in the long run, if governments were to put more focus on non-military issues, rather than military issues. He states that defining national security merely (or even primarily) in military terms conveys a profoundly false image of reality (Ullman 1983, 129). Ullman states that, a significant disadvantage when a government’s main focus is on the military threats and they disregard non-military threats is that the total security of a nation gets reduced (Ullman 1983, 129). He argues in his article that non-military threats should be given greater attention. Ullman also goes on to state that when a nation only focuses on making their military strong, this act causes pervasive militarization, which eventually causes global insecurity between nations (Ullman 1983, 129).…
