The French people desperately wanted equality, and they were willing to do just about anything to gain that. The people were even willing to bring themselves into a revolution and later under the leadership of Napoleon Bonaparte. When the French people were under a nobility nobody was treated equal because like many old systems the people were unfairly separated into groups based on status. Peasants did not have a say in what happened to their lives, or their properties and the government had the ability to simply push the people around. They people wanted fairness; just like a child wants what her sibling has. The people were willing to turn to violence slaughtering many of the rulers in France; and starting a dark and terrifying revolution.
Now I will talk a little bit about our present day. What freedoms do you hold dear? Would you give up any of those freedoms if you knew that you could get greater security in return? What would those freedoms be? These are good things to think about as our country is starting to take a turn for the worse.
