The only food they would receive is bread. Very small portions. If other food was wanted they would have to fish.While all of this was happening there were many distractions that turned the americans and other leaders attention. One of these reasons was Stalin and the Communist party. Stalin at this time was purging the Communist party. He was trying to gain more power. America along with other leaders were so focused on this they were unaware of the cruelty that was going on. Another distraction was the NKVD. The nkvd were Stalin's tool. They were his secret police. He used them to gain power against the citizens. Anyone who dared to speak up against the government was “dealt” with.
