Causes of the American Revolution
“We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” Ben Franklin once said. This quote relates with the causes of the American Revolution. The quote relates to the causes of the American Revolution because Ben Franklin was referring that we either all stand together or as a country all stand as nobody. Throughout the American Revolution; political, social, and intellectual transformations changed the daily lives of the colonist. The American Revolution was the foundation for the United States.
The Boston Massacre took place in 1770. Nobody knows the “real” story behind the Boston Massacre or who the instigator was at the time. Things read off the internet or in books by people are more than likely based on perception. There was abnormal tension between the colonist and the red coats. The French and Indian War ended in 1763.
Shortly after the war in 1764, numerous acts had been passed to tax the colonist on paper and sugars. Great Britain was in a huge amount of debt due to the previous war, which led to the reason on why the country had taxed all the colonies. The taxing continued all the way until 1763, when the colonist could not take it anymore. The tea act began in 1763. Colonist were not happy about this whatsoever. Due to the colonist unhappiness, they decided to dump gallons of tea into the Boston Harbor known as the Boston Tea Party. Everyone was stunned. Although, one benefit from the Boston Tea Party was that it made the Harbor smell pleasant for the time
being.
The Boston Tea Party then led to the Intolerable Act. The Intolerable Act was the series of acts that were being passed by the British Parliament. This act made the government spend more money. The First Continental Congress is a group that met in order to come to the aid of Boston. They officially petitioned King George III to change his policies that regard to the American Colonies in 1774. The Intolerable Act was the final cause of the American Revolution.
Throughout the American Revolution; political, social, and intellectual transformations changed the daily lives of the colonist. The causes of the American Revolution was such an important time period for the United States. This time period was when the United States was first being built and trying to have a strong country. Even though, Great Britain did many terrorizing things, the United States fought back and won. The United States would not be the country it is today, if it was not for the American Revolution.
