The feminist movement was started at a conference for women at Seneca Falls 1848. The great leaders of the movement was Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Most of the work other feminists were based around the work these women did.

The women's movement was heavily influenced by the civil rights movements. Women had been protesting with many of these minority groups and realized that they didn't have many rights themselves.
