The bitter winds pick up and the creatures turn around and around and around until a “green-monster-nado” comes tearing through the neighborhood. Their cries piercing the ears of anyone nearby.
As the tiny creatures end their reign of terror, they land all spread out and perfect on our lawns. They just lay there, collecting the tears of the morning, waiting, for another chance at life.
All of the sudden as huge red pointy thing comes tearing through the lawn, gathering them together so they can be shoved and pushed into a suffocating black or orange bag. Their life seems to be ending here. Suddenly, they fly through the air and land with a

And so we came to those days when summer was dead but autumn had not yet been born. It was Saturday noon, just a few days before the start of school. Daddy, Mama, Doodle, and I were seated at the dining room table, having lunch. Suddenly from out in the yard came a strange croaking noise. Doodle stopped eating. "What's that?" He slipped out into the yard, and looked up into the bleeding tree. "It's a big red bird!"…

In the second grade, I had a crippling fear of my teacher, who loved to play, “Let's pick on all the students who aren’t raising their hands.” In my imagination, school was where carnivorous teachers scanned the classroom, looking to slaughter the most helpless creatures. And it seemed like this one had clear intentions of mounting my prized head on the wall. This meant that I suffered from a chronic case of rapid heartbeat, timid eye contact, and tense palms that left imprints of red crescent moons on my thighs.…

“At that moment, you will be lying there (I rarely find people standing up). You will be caked in your own body. There might be a discovery; a scream will dribble down the air. The only sound I’ll hear after that will be my own breathing, and the sound of the smell, of my footsteps. The question is, what color will everything be at that moment when I come for you? What will the sky be saying? Personally, I like a chocolate-colored sky. Dark, dark chocolate. People say it suits me. I do, however, try to enjoy every color I see—the whole spectrum. A billion or so flavors, none of them quite the same, and a sky to slowly suck on. It takes the edge off the stress. It helps me relax. A SMALL THEORY People observe the colors of a day only at its…

It looks like early morning; the singing birds give an eerie sense of calm to all of this chaos. I get up, I look down the road, no sounds besides the birds singing. I know you said you weren't trying to hurt me. I know you said you were trying to do this the best way you knew how. But when you stood there with your knife at my throat, and I begged you please, you still pressed it in. You heard me scream and beg, and you still dug deeper, until you couldn't hear me anymore. You could hear the blood gushing to the floor, the universe's way of saying you'd fucked up. But you'd already ripped out my throat, you couldn't go back from that.…

Louis Armstrong’s performance of “(What Did I Do To Be So) Black and Blue”, along with many of his other works, helped establish the “bluesy” feeling as part of Jazz’s harmonic foundation. In observing Armstrong’s performances, the meaning of his lyrics and the emotion behind the words are what helped makes jazz music so unique. Some of the lyrics that he sings, such as “I’m white… inside… but, that don’t help my case…” helped give Jazz expressivity as well as shows how Jazz could be very blue. Louis’ voice while singing this particular song comes off as sad or down.…
