When James Cameron The Terminator
The Terminator As I was scrolling through the list of top directors from the list that was provided, I’ve noticed a name, and that name was James Cameron. James Cameron is one of the top and best directors in the world. Directing movies such as “The Terminator,” “Rambo: The First Blood,” “Terminator 2,” and “The Titanic.” Those movies were some of the top best classic movies that I’ve watched as growing up. The Terminator is about a cyborg that is disguised as a human. The role of the terminator in the movie is played by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. The setting of the movie begins in the future (2029), there is a war going on. The terminator travels back in time from the year 2029 to the year 1984 to kill Sarah Connor, on the other …show more content…
The Terminator is Schwarzenegger’s one of the most iconic roles throughout his acting career. If I could ask anybody about Arnold Schwarzenegger they would most likely refer to the Terminator. Another reason is James Cameron, what makes James Cameron one of the great directors is the fact that prior to directing Terminator, Cameron best work was probably Piranha Part Two. Having only Piranha Part Two as a previous directing, the terminator proved to be his best work. With Cameron directing the movie, the terminator’s box office number was 78.3 million dollars. That’s a good number for a movie that was released in 1984. As the years passed on most people regard the terminator as James Cameron’s best …show more content…
The Godfather is directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Francis Ford Coppola is an Italian-American director. After watching The Godfather, I honestly don’t know what else can top this movie. I feel like it’s one of those movies that you watch and then you watch another movie, but it doesn’t feel the same anymore. I just don’t know what can top this movie. It was directed greatly considering when the movie was made. The movie was made in 1972, which is long time ago. I feel like when movies have that kind of impact on someone’s opinion is greatly directed. Francis Ford Coppola made a huge impact on the movie to make sure it had that kind of impact. The movie Godfather centers around the don Vito Corleone who is also the head of the Corleone family mafia which is based in New York. Corleone is at the wedding on his daughter (Connie). Corleone’s youngest son (Michael) is also present at the wedding after coming back from World War II. Michael doesn’t seem to be interested in the family business. Drug dealer named Virgil Sollozzo want to sell drugs at New York which is Corleone’s territory. Sollozzo wanted protection in exchange for the money that they were going to get selling drugs but the don declined the offer and that’s when Sollozzo hired a hit on the don. Corleone barely survives in which causes Michael to start a war against Sollozzo. Michael just wanted to live a normal life, but nothing went with what

It was a beautiful spring morning and I was waiting for my ride to work (I didn't have a car then). All of a sudden, a rare and beautiful 1967 Shelby GT500 with a 4 on-the-floor, BB427ci 2v OHV 4BL double-pumper 750 Holly pulled up in front of my house with its cams loping away. At the engines idling speed, it sounded similar to that of the SpongeBob Square-Pants victory screech, but with a little more testosterone. As I approached the car, it seemed as if time had slowed down. The driver of the car was just staring at the windshield, repeatedly honking his horn. I entered the car with a feeling of disconcertment and said "Hi, my name is Sandra, and you?" He then responded by saying that he was a man by the name of Arnold Weinerschnitzel. It was obvious to me that the huffy-puffy cigar man had a deluded sense of reality. He, for some reason believed that he was a terminator who was on a mission to save John Conner! Man, it was intensely scary, and let my neck tell you, he had one heavy foot! Our journey lasted the…

In this Italian neighborhood, where Calogero grew up, there were many different dynamics. His father was a bus driver for the city, and always looked out for his son not to get into trouble. One of the main deviant influences in the film was an Italian mafia that operated in a bar across the street. Every day as a young boy, Calogero mimicked what the mobsters were doing, especially Sonny. Sonny was the mafia boss in the neighborhood; Calogero saw how everyone respected him. One day Calogero witnessed Sonny kill a guy in front of his house, which seemed to be over a parking space. When the police came upstairs to ask the boy who did it, he did not “rat.” After the questioning, Calogero said to his father “I did a good thing right? I didn’t rat.” His father responded and said “yes you did a good thing for a bad man.” Calogero didn’t understand why his father said that. The next day Sonny took Calogero under his wing, when this happened he noticed that he was treated differently. And Calogero liked how this new found of respect he got from people in the neighborhood. A couple of mafia guys even offered Calogero’s father a job, but he denied their offer. Calogero’s father chose to live a straight life as a conformist he did not want to affiliate himself with the mafia. No matter how much the family was struggling, no matter how much his wife told him that they can use the extra money. He still did not give in to any of these deviant behaviors. During this time, when he was young, Calogero was…

The plot of The Godfather goes like this: Vito Corleone is the aging don (head) of the Corleone Mafia Family. His youngest son Michael has returned from WWII just in time to see the wedding of Connie Corleone (Michael's sister) to Carlo Rizzi. All of Michael's family is involved with the Mafia, but Michael just wants to live a normal life. Drug dealer Virgil Sollozzo is looking for Mafia Families to offer him protection in exchange for a profit of the drug money. He approaches Don Corleone about it, but, much against the advice of the Don's lawyer Tom Hagen, the Don is morally against the use of drugs, and turns down the offer. This does not please Sollozzo, who has the Don shot down by some of…

In the eyes of Suzanne Wong, Vito Corleone is a man who deserves to be admired. He is a man who does well and expects nothing less in return. In Wong’s essay, she constantly brings up the deeds he does for everyone. Her reasons about why Don Vito Corleone is such a great role model were very well explained and detailed. She builds up Vito’s character so others can view him as a god like figure, hence why his nickname is The Godfather. I do agree with her on some topics, but at the same time I disagree. I agree with Wong when she says friendships are important, and Vito really showed how important it was. In addition, I agree with her argument about traditional values. What I don’t necessarily agree with is what she said about success and how the Don achieved it by himself. So therefore I mainly agree with Wong but at the same time I disagree just a little. I agree with Corleone being a good role model because he values friendship and traditional values but I don’t agree that he is because his success all resulted from violence.…

When looking at American history, it becomes clear that immigrants came into America in waves and were discriminated against, due to the immense size of these immigration waves. During the early 1800’s, Italy had the largest influx of immigrants coming into America at the time. Because of this, many were discriminated against in terms of jobs, housing, and medical care. To protect themselves from the outside world and create more jobs for their relatives immigrating to America; the Italians came together to form the mafia. As explained by Karen Jaehne, "Coppola 's Godfather epic may have had a richer mise en scene and grander ambitions—the depiction of the immigrant, tribal Mafia 's evolution into a multinational corporation as a metaphor for the saga of Americanization” (Citron 423). This means that this film was used to show the fact that even though the immigrants were against impossible odds, they used teamwork and loyalty to still strive to the top. This is the “American dream” adopted by many immigrants, but is risky because of the level of illegal activity. The mafia was used for organized crime creating a new market for revenue that did not exist prior because it was illegal activity. In the film, Vito Corleone is the don of the mafia and is portrayed as a man…

In the era of the 1980’s, New York City was going through a calamitous time, as the crack cocaine epidemic unleashed a wave of crime and addiction, and government mismanagement caused near bankruptcy of the city. Due to a decrease of manufacturing in the city, an economic downturn ensued, which in turn caused a shortage of affordable housing, and low levels of public assistance payments, such as welfare. The combination of these elements, caused a rise of family homelessness. The city responded to the crisis by placing the families, in hotels as temporary “housing”. Amongst these families, were Pietro’s. The downfall of his family can be rooted to three major affairs; him losing his job, being placed in The Martinique, and his son’s, Christopher,…

Italian writer Mario Puzo wrote The Godfather in 1920. In 1972, the book was made into a movie. Part two followed in 1974, and part three in 1990. The plot follows the feuds between five big New York mafia families. Compared to the movie, the book had many more side stories featuring supporting characters. Of note is how the novel version had an epilogue that the movie completely ignored. Although there are some changes and flaws, the 1974 film adaptation of the book has a similar plot and is a very good film version. It is one of the best book adaptations ever.…
