2. The father of the twelve daughters wants too find out how the girls are escaping the locked room at night and going dancing. So he tells men if they can solve the mystery they may marry a daughter of their choosing.
3. Rising action of the story I think would be the begging of the first night where on of the son's try and figure out where the princesses go at night after they're locked away. the men are taken into the chamber where the women sleep and are supposed to stay awake and see how it happens but the eldest gives the men a glass of wine that makes them fall asleep.
The climax of the story would be the night the old soldier tries his luck with the girls. He was given a cloak by a woman in the woods that allows him to become invisible during the night to follow the girls. he doesn't drink the wine and fakes sleeping until time for them to sneak out. the first night he kept the findings a secret but then the next night he took the twigs and golden cup to the father and let him know how the girls managed to go dancing and escape the locked room.
The denouement of the story would be the end where the father confronts the daughters. The girls confess to what the soldier had said and now the father has allowed him to marry one of the twelve daughters. The soldier picked the oldest daughter.
4. I think there is several protagonist. The twelve daughters and maybe the soldier. and I think the father would be the antagonist because he kills men if they do not find where the women go at
