She majored in government/political science, which was one of the things she really had a passion about and she just had this thirst to learn everything she could about it. While attending college Steinem was involved in numerous activities, for instance she was a part of her school’s newspaper. She genuinely had a love for writing and it showed throughout her work. Steinem in her free time she volunteered for the the presidential campaign for Adlai Stevenson. After a few years of attending college she later found out that her mom used to be a reporter and a columnist for the newspaper that they had in their hometown of Toledo. She also found out that her mom gave up that job because she had gotten married and then shortly after that had gotten pregnant with Steinem's older sister. Steinem always looked up to her mom as a role model and never was mad at her because of her mental disorders, she really blamed society for the way her mom was. She felt that because society believed that women couldn't maintain having a family full time on top of having a good stable job. So with this opportunity she choose to go undercover as a PlayBoy Bunny to gain more knowledge about the lifestyle and just to gain an overall understanding about it. She came upon an article on auditions in becoming a PlayBoy Bunny, so that was the perfect time for her to convert into a completely person and try and become a PlayBoy Bunny. Steinem also had to change her age for the audition because the age limit to become a bunny was 4 years younger than her actual age. She kept a lot of her same information for Marie except how she lived her life. Marie was broke, worked as a server in London and she also danced from time to time in London. Steinem aced her audition at the playboy mansion and shortly after became an actual PlayBoy Bunny. She worked there for a little while only making a measly 200 hundred dollars a week, not enough to satisfy anybody. After staying in the playboy mansion for a little while Steinem finally had enough information to write an article. In her article she talked about how women weren't treated with respect they were treated like pieces of meat for men.
