rather than working for it. I love the example of Thomas Edison, that shows there that he never gave up and continued to try and achieve his goal. If more people follow his tactics and his mindset they won’t give up as easily and consider themselves as failures. Risks are a huge part of the long road to becoming successful, much what the author said people must take more risks in order to avoid being frightened of the fact they might fail. A connection I had with this article is how baseball was mentioned, I used to live, eat and smell baseball. Much like the baseball example that was mentioned, in order to hit home runs you must be prepared for what’s coming and not expect a walk or a fastball right down the plate. While playing baseball we would go over certain scenarios that would occur and disscussed what we would do if we were in that particular situation. Like what was mentioned in order to hit home runs, you must not just stand there and not do anything, rather have an approach and know what is coming.
Harold T. Shapiro has done an excellent job explaining failure and how exactly to overcome fears of failing and also the whole aspect of failing and the effect it has on people. Providing accurate examples like Harold did has helped me tremendously understanding this article more and makes me relate to it personally. Mentioning our society always brings up a lot of discussion and can at some points be challenging to talk about, but in this article he makes it easy. Overall though it has been a very good read for me I connected with and and understood it which is always helpful.
