Master of Lightning, Wizard, The Man who Invented the Twentieth Century, and The Electric Messiah. The man to thank for our electrical system today. How he became a great inventor that is remembered today. This man’s name is Nikola Tesla. Tesla’s education, family, jobs, and colleagues contributed to his many inventions which advanced the electrical field.
Tesla was born and raised in Serbia. Nikola Tesla was born on July 9th, 1856 in Serbia what is today Croatia. He was named after his grandfather Nikola who was from the region of Lika. Thus, the origin of Tesla’s birth is pointed out. There were events that would shape and affect …show more content…
Nikola and Edison both worked restlessly on Edison's (DC) direct current power. Nikola Tesla at one point was promised by Edison that he would get paid $50,000 if he would improve Edison's (DC) direct current power system, but Edison tricked Tesla and said that Tesla didn't understand “American humor”. Nikola Tesla quit after that. Nikola Tesla was backed up by some people who wanted to be a part of his (AC) alternating current power system. One of these people was a man named George Westinghouse. “...Tesla’s New York lab burned destroying years worth of notes and equipment”. (“Nikola Tesla” History.com) Later Tesla decided to be on his own again, so he left Westinghouse and started to invent again. He invented an electric oscillator, improved lights, and invented a high voltage transformer called a Tesla Coil. Above all, Tesla’s inventions are improved and built. Tesla got help after failed attempts. Tesla gained security from a financial supporter named J.P. Morgan, thus making Tesla able to continue his work. He joined the General Electric and put in a (AC) Alternating Current generator in Niagara Falls, thus making the first modern day power station. Nikola’s invention of the hydroelectric power plant in Niagara Falls had repeated success and was favored by the people and the press. At the same time, Tesla is built up by his new achievements with the electric …show more content…
Tesla’s invention of the (AC) alternating current system is one of the things that shapes our world today. Our modern-day life runs on Tesla’s invention and scientists and electricians have been expanding on these ideas, and developing even better ways to have electrical efficiency. From here on out, society has the responsibility to never forget who contributed to today's life, and how we got all these amazing technological advances. Society must never forget all the people that helped Tesla achieve his goals, and how they contributed to his inventions that are used
