If you can, imagine a world without the simple, everyday privilege to have electricity in your home. Nikola Tesla is the single person responsible for giving this ability to the common world. Without Nikola Tesla, the world would be very different due to his inventions. His contributions pushed the world forward because of his alternating current, his wireless, and his energy related inventions. Nikola Tesla is not very well known for most of his inventions, even though most modern people use them everyday without even knowing.
The world would be different without Nikola Tesla, because had Tesla not invented the Alternating Current motor, Thomas Edison would have successfully developed and sold his Direct Current motor. In order for direct current to be used, a power source must be within a quarter-mile from the source in order to transmit electricity, instead of alternating current, which can be transmitted hundreds of miles. This being said, there would need to be an electric power plant every quarter of a mile in order to power your homes. This would not be too practical, so household power would most likely be exclusive for only wealthy individuals. The world would definitely be farther back in the progress of civilization, but direct current is used even today in cars, handheld devices, and other things.
Nikola Tesla also helped some breakthroughs in other inventions, such as discovering radar in 1917, but he was told the invention was useless, and not until several years later did radar become known to the public until Robert Watt was credited with it’s discovery in 1935. Nikola Tesla introduced remote-control into the world, and had he not creating it, there would be no TV remotes, no unmanned vehicles, and no EOD robots. Tesla is also famous for his engineering of the first hydro-electric power plant, built on Niagara Falls, along with being the first person to take X-ray images, which is one of the most important
