Many priests have been priests for over 30 years, but Wojtyla was elected pope 31 years after his ordination, in 1978. He changed his name to Pope John Paul II. He established World Youth Day, an annual day helping the Youth. He visited 128 different countries, fighting discrimination and mistreatment throughout the world. He died on April 2, 2005. He was canonized in 2013 by Pope Francis, and his feast day is October 25. St. Pope John Paul II is the patron saint of World Youth
Day.

He survived and had a full recovery. Doctors do not know how the bullets did not kill him, and say it was a miracle he survived. (Catholic Online)

The nun said that she doesn't call it a miracle, for that is for the Vatican to decide. All she knows is that she had Parkinson's one day, and the next, she did not. Again in Costa Rica, he healed a lady who was paralyzed waste down and she prayed through him. She slowly felt her leg strength return throughout the day. The doctors could still not explain the recovery. (telegraph.co.uk)
