In William shakespeare’s play, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, Hamlet is sent on a difficult errand by his father, the ghost to seek vengeance on his uncle Claudius who Hamlet believes to be the murderer of his father. Although the young prince is ordered to revenge for his father by the ghost at the commencement of the play, he delays his revenge on Claudius the murderer of his father until the end of the play in act 5. Hamlet was suspicious of the ghost's true identity. "The spirit that I have seen May be the devil: and the devil hath power To assume a pleasing shape; yea, and perhaps Out of my weakness and my melancholy, As he is very potent with such spirits, Abuses me to damn me." ( Act 2, Sc. 2; L.L. 609-612). Hamlet claims that the ghost he he has seen may be the devil, so that it has the power to assume a pleasing disguise that may be taking advantage of his weakness and grief to bring about his eternal punishment in hell. Wilson Knight said "The ghost may or may not have been a "goblin damned"; it certainly was no "spirit of health". This sentence is the theme of the Hamlet criticism that followed. There is no doubt that the reason is that he is overthinking and uncertainty over everything. Starting from the beginning of the play, all he does is think about what he should be doing or how he should be doing it , he rather thinks about the situation then act upon it and there isn't anything stopping him from getting his revenge on the King. For his plans to come to fruition, Hamlet needed to motivation and assurance enough that he would proceed and not stop to think about every aspect of it. by achieving that he was able to finally kill the king Claudius and avenge his father's murder at the end of act 5. Hamlets uncertainty is proven multiple times in the play first in the act one as he declares to Horatio that speaking with the ghost can not harm him But Hamlet does not believe in any Theory. He can not make up his mind as if the ghost he sees is indeed his father ordering Hamlet to seek revenge and tell him the truth or if it is just a demon tempting him to commit a sin and kill Claudius for no reason. At the end of act 3 scene 3. Hamlet is alone with Claudius and has a perfect chance to carry on his revenge and murder Claudius.
